HAPPENING AT FORESIGHT INSTITUTE
June is coming to an end, and we would like to share with you some of what we has been happening in the past month, and what exciting things are coming up!
We’ve wrapped up our Gaming the Future Book Club. We had an amazing line-up in the last few weeks of our meetings, including David Brin, Gernot Heiser, Trent McConaghy, and Steve Omohundro.
The winners of our latest Tech Tree bounty round have been announced!
New seminar summaries have been produced in our groups on Biotech & Health Extension, Intelligent Cooperation, Molecular Machines and Neurotech.
Events: Foresight will be hosting our annual Molecular Machines workshop in San Francisco!
Read and listen to learn about Foresight’s work in media such as Forbes, UltraRare, and FinTech News.
Gaming the Future Book Club
We’ve just held our last Book Club meeting on Gaming the Future: Technologies for Intelligent Voluntary Cooperation with a wonderful selection of guest speakers such as Robin Hanson, Stuart Armstrong, Trent McConaghy, and many more. We discussed how cryptocommerce enables decentralized, secure cooperation across humans – and AIs – to unlock Paretotropian futures powered by high technology.
Check out the recordings of the meetings in the Book Club playlist.
Tech Tree Bounty Winners
Congratulations to the winners of this Tech Tree bounty round! The purpose is to solicit project proposals for solving challenges in Tech Tree nodes in the fields of Intelligent Cooperation, Neurotech, Space Tech, Longevity and Nanotech. Each winner was awarded 0.15 ETH. Open Foresight Gitcoin bounties can be found here.
You can find more info on current Tech Trees protypes, Tech Tree architects and advisors, and a list of the best winning proposals here!
Feynman Prize Nominations are Open!
Every year Foresight awards the Feynman Prize to prominent researchers within nanotech. These Foresight prizes are given in honor of Richard P. Feynman who, in 1959, gave a visionary talk at Caltech in which he suggested that “the problems of chemistry and biology can be greatly helped if our ability to see what we are doing, and to do things on an atomic level, is ultimately developed — a development which I think cannot be avoided.”
Nominations are now open for this year’s award. Please nominate yourself or someone you think should be awarded here.
New Seminar Summaries!
The meetings from our Biotech & Health Extension, Intelligent Cooperation, Molecular Machines and Neurotech groups this month are available and can all be found here:
